Setting up and running a group

Want help with managing your group or need someone to talk your ideas through with?

We can help you with the following:

Legal Structures:

  • Help you decide what type of organisation you to set up, or we can review whether your current governance fits your purpose (your legal structure)
  • Prepare or review your governing documents: constitution or memorandum and articles of association
  • Register a legal structure such as a Company Limited by Guarantee, Charitable Company, Community Interest Company (CIC), or Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)

Managing your delivery:

  • Put the right policies and procedures in place.
  • Choose an appropriate way of monitoring the quality of your delivery (quality assurance accreditation)

Trustee Support:

  • Survey the skills and interests of your board / committee members
  • Train your board on good governance
  • Explore roles and responsibilities within your committee

The Charity Commission now insist that trustees fully understand their key role. To help achieve this we run regular training sessions specifically for trustees. Visit the training page on our website for details of the latest training courses we offer. We can also deliver at your premises direct to your trustees.

In addition, we have a trustees emailing list. We use this to send out trustee e-newsletters with useful information for trustees. To sign up for this e-newsletter, simply enter your email address in the box on the right.

We've included a document detailing the essential stages you must go through when starting up a group, which is attached below.
